How the animal rescue began
“Today, our world seems to stuggle with exhibiting the simple qualities of everyday love, kindness, respect and dignity for all people and creatures.”

Chris tells the farm's story
"I have always had a strong bond with animals - pigs, dogs and any kind of farm animal you can imagine.
I spent my adult career in law enforcement with about 18 years of that time as a k-9 officer. I always appreciated the honesty of animals--what you see is what you get. They are also very forgiving.
I’ve also always been drawn to horses. I begin riding them at about five years old. Later in my teens, I began to train a new horse I had received as a gift from my grandparents. They are so majestic. Horses are extremely intuitive and are able to pick up on the most subtle of clues regarding our moods. They’re very wonderful animals.
While in law enforcement, I was often called upon to work large animal abuse cases because most people are afraid of them due to their size. So, after retiring, I began to rescue abandoned and abused horses. Once healed and healthy, I have returned many to friends of ours who provided them with a loving home. We have handled and rescued more than 50 horses through the years and too many other animals to count. We work closely with a local dog and cat rescue in our hometown to assist them any way we can, including by providing foster care when needed. We have 7 horses on the farm right now - they will remain here for the rest of their lives due to their age and health problems that prevent them from being adopted. It is very expensive to maintain the care they need, but they give us much more than we could ever give them."
"They are literally our family and we love all of the animals here very much!"
